Methods to Enable Windows Hello Face Protection

Method 1: Enable from Settings

  1. Open the Start menu and open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accounts -> Sign-in options.
  3. Click on Facial Recognition and enable the enhanced facial recognition protection.
  4. Click Restart Now for changes to take effect.

Method 2: Enable from Group Policy

  • Applicable Versions: Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, Education
  1. Open the Start menu and search for group policy or type GPEdit.
  2. Navigate to MS3D Templates under Computer Configuration.
  3. Go to Windows Components -> Biometrics -> Facial Features.
  4. Right-click Configure enhanced anti-spoofing policy and choose Edit.
  5. Select Enable, click Apply, then OK.
  6. Restart the computer.

Method 3: Enable from the Registry

  • Caution: Modifying the registry can be risky; ensure to backup before proceeding.
  1. Open the Start menu and search for the registry.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft.
  3. Right-click the Microsoft key, select New -> Key, and name it Biometrics.
  4. Right-click the newly created key, select New -> Key, and name it FacialFeatures.
  5. Right-click on FacialFeatures, select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  6. Name it EnhanceAntiSpoofing, change the value to 1.
  7. Click OK and restart the computer.

Disabling the Protection

  • From Registry: Set EnhanceAntiSpoofing key to 0 or delete the Biometrics folder.
