Fixing 100% Disk Usage on Windows PC

Objective

Steps

1. Access Device Manager:

   • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.

2. Locate Storage Controller:

   • Expand Storage Controllers or ID ATA/ATAPI Controllers.

   • Right-click and select Properties.
   • Navigate to the Details tab.

3. Prepare Command:

   • Open Notepad.
   • Type the required command and paste the copied device instance path, replacing the placeholder PCI path.

4. Modify Registry:

   • Open Command Prompt with administrator privileges:
     • Press Win + R, type CMD, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
   • Paste and execute the command prepared in Notepad.
   • Look for a confirmation message indicating successful completion.

5. Apply Changes:

   • Restart your PC.
   • Check for improvements in disk usage via Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
